What is the reason for creating Le Daylight Studio
While being born and raised in Europe, I spent most of my adult life in the USA. I lived almost 20 years in New York and in Florida.
During this time, I was fortunate enough to have access to great Photo studios in both locations when working with models. I decided early on to photograph models using daylight ONLY. Therefore, whether shooting in a huge New York loft or a Mansion-like Florida house, I always rented daylight photo studios.
Upon my return to Europe a few years ago, I was surprised that most advertised studios there were not daylight studios. I visited dozens of daylight studios and was surprised that there were both way more expensive than what I was used to in the US and often offered very little in terms of setting. Indeed most of these “daylight studios” only had a white wall , a make up room and a tired leather sofa as sole decor.
There are also some homes or private apartments advertised as places to shoot but while more affordable it rarely featured more than two places with enough daylight to shoot. And if you like to photograph your model other than standing and sitting/lying on the floor, the options in ALL of these studios were very limited.
Another issue when shooting models in a location away from home is the amount of stuff to carry to the shoot beside the camera equipment : the reflectors , the wardrobe for the model, some very useful accessories (like a step-up ladder, an apple box, etc.). Unless you can afford to have one (or several) assistants, it can become a hassle quite rapidly.
Finally, in many places in Europe, you are not sure how much daylight you are going to get on the day of your shoot, at least outside the summer months.
There were certainly some places nice enough to shoot for a day or two but nothing anywhere close to what I had experienced in America.
I figured that there might be an way to offer a more pleasant shooting experience in Southern Europe.. and the idea of Le Daylight Studio was born… The goal was to present photographers with an option not available elsewhere which would cumulate the following advantages :
- A geographic location in a region which would allow for a minimum of a 7 month season of warm weather and ample daylight
- An easy to access location from a main hub (international airport or train station) to make it manageable for photographers
- A place large enough to provide with multiple “decors” both INSIDE and OUTSIDE
- A significant financial investment on my part and my experience in furniture design to offer designs NOT AVAILABLE in any other Photo studio. Please see images on this site to that effect.
- An “all in option” with a wide range of reflectors available at no cost for the shoot
- Different rental options from renting the studio only for the day to all inclusive with model AND wardrobe provided
Speaking of wardrobe, You will have the option to fit your models with a large choice of models outfits from lingerie to shoes. I have about 50 pairs of models shoes (roughly 10 pairs for the 4 most common shoe size for models).
And last but not least, I have the largest collection of high-end lingerie for your shoot. The lingerie outfits constitute a “who’s who” of the best brands from France and Italy such as : Lise Charmel, Lou, Rittrati, Naory, Marjolaine, Christie’s, Aubade,La Perla, Implicite.. to name a few.
One lingerie set of your choice is included in the rental of the studio for the day . Sizes available range from 32 to 36 (85 to 95 in French sizes) in B,C or D cups.
Simply put, there is NO other studio in Europe who offers this option for your models shoot.
